Complete Dentures

We will give you a thorough examination and consultation before deciding on a course of action.

We will –
  • Discuss your denture history
  • Understand your needs
  • Take impressions of your gums
  • Record the way you bite
  • Help you choose the denture teeth
  • Create a trial denture
  • Fit the final dentures
  • Offer any aftercare and make adjustments

Complete dentures in the lower jaw can be more unstable than dentures in your upper jaw and your tongue and lips may dislodge them, so it may take longer to adjust to them and learn how to keep them in place.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used to fill in the gaps left by missing teeth. They can be made entirely from plastic, or from a mixture of plastic and light alloy. They are attached to your remaining natural teeth with metal clasps or flexible tooth coloured clasps. Precision attachments can also be used which are much more discreet than clasping.

Your gums can change shape over time, which means your denture may no longer fit comfortably. If this is the case, you should visit a CDT or Dentists. If your denture becomes damaged or you have any problems with your natural teeth you should also see your denture provider. Never attempt to adjust your denture yourself.
Contact us at +1 (905) 597-2010 to make an appointment and we'll be happy to assist you in learning how dental implants could be the best choice for your dental health needs.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are ready to wear on the same day as your tooth extractions and can be in the form of a partial or a complete denture. There may be a few months of waiting for your gums to heal after such treatment before you can have the final dentures.

They will replace the extracted teeth while the new, permanent set of dentures are being manufactured by the Clinical Dental Technician. Having a set of immediate dentures prevents people from having to spend many weeks without any teeth and allows them to get on with their normal lives. Immediate dentures are not as effective as permanent dentures but they restore a degree of function and are an attractive alternative to having no teeth.

Denture Relines and Denture Repairs

Denture Relines
Over time your gums begin to shrink which will create a space between your denture and gums. This can cause your denture to feel loose and you may notice more food getting trapped underneath your denture or more sore spots on your gums. Relining affects only the fit of your denture and will not change the appearance or other aspects. A reline may be required every 1-2 years depending on the amount of bone loss over time.
Denture Repairs
We can usually repair cracked or fractured dentures, insert strengtheners into dentures and remove stains. We can also repair chips in the artificial teeth or replace ones that have broken off. Some clinics offer a postal repair service where you send your dentures to them and they repair them and return them to you on the same day if possible. If your dentures are quite old and have broken several times, it may be necessary to have a new set made. Dentures that have had teeth added or fractured multiple times are generally not very comfortable to wear as they no longer fit that well. If your denture requires a repair, it may be indicative of underlying problems, including age of the denture, worn teeth, or poor fit. The Denturist is the professional who can best explain how to prevent denture breakage from occurring.

Dentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic (plastic), nylon or metal. They fit snugly over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps. Gaps left by missing teeth can cause problems with eating and speech, and teeth either side of the gap may grow into the space at an angle. Installing dentures has a lot of advantages, including:

- No dietary restrictions
- Health improvement
- Cost-effectiveness
- Versatility
- Aesthetics
